On to Honolulu

Byodo Temple near Kaneohe
Today we packed up early and hit the road, along the north shore, to Kanehoe, to meet Brooke.  The ride down was very pretty, although it was fairly cloudy so it wasn’t a picture postcard type of day.  We did stop at the Byodo Temple – a Buddhist Temple modeled after a 950 year old temple in Japan.  It was very beautiful, and a gorgeous setting.

We then met Brooke at a restaurant in Kailua and had a very nice visit with her.  She’s doing well as a Marine’s wife.  We then drove to our hotel in Waikiki, checked in and then headed out for a walk.  The weather was still cloudy, and it started to rain a bit so we cut our walk short and ate at a little bar and grill right on the beach.  Joanie had something delicious – edamame hummus – which was served with some pickled ginger.  It was really good.

We then went back to the hotel, packed up everything for our early (5:30am) drive to the airport and went to bed early.   Nothing too special today – but there’s nothing ever wrong with an easy paced day.
